Biography
Major General MSA Bhuiyan (Retd.) was born in Juranpur, Daudkandi under Comilla district. After finishing his college, he went to study Islamic Studies in prominent Dhaka University. After graduating from Dhaka university, he joined Pakistan military academy. He commissioned from Pakistan military academy in 1965 as a proud Bangladeshi officer. In 1971, he revolted against Pakistani military aggression and formed a resistant group consisting of local police, Bangladeshi soldiers and freedom fighters. Later he joined the freedom fight under the command of late president Ziaur Rahman.
He was part of a major historical moment in Bangladesh history, when late president Ziaur Rahman gave his speech about "Declaration of Independence of Bangladesh on be half of Father of the nation, Shek Mojibur Rahamn. His valor and courage to protect the radio station against the enemy, made possible the declaration of independence of Bangladesh.
Until Major General MSA Bhuiyan (Retd.) retied form Bangladesh Army in 1997, he served in Bangladesh Army with diligence and integrity. His leadership in 1991 massive flood rescue and relief operation caught major international attention which helped Bangladesh to get additional foreign aid. A brilliant military officer, Major General MSA Bhuiyan lead several brigades during his tenure in the Army. He was appointed Principal Staff Officer of Bangladeshi Prime Minister from 1991 to 1996. During this time he was able to send many Bangladeshi troops in several United Nations peace keeping mission. Bangladesh Army is highly praised in the international arena for their UN peace keeping services.
After retiring from Army, Bhuiyan started full time philanthropically work in greater Comilla area. In every flood, every tornado, every natural disaster, Bhuiya extending his kind hand to the affected people of Daudkandi, Comilla. He helped the people which little savings he had from servicing in the Army. His kindness, his love for the people, lead him birthday poems to take money out of his retirement fund to help the needy in times of need. He is always with the people of Daudkandi in term of good or bad. He goes back to his root, every day from his house in Dhaka. His heart cries for the people. And he wanted to do more.
He realized, in order to make some major change in Daudkandi, he needs to represent the people of Daudkandi in Bangladesh Parliament. So he ran for the member of the parliament election in 2001 as an independent candidate. His massive popularity scared the current MP from Comilla 2, current health minister, a highly corrupted politician. His cadre's took control of the voting polls by enforcing violence and gave illegal votes. People of Daudkandi could not exercise death poems their civic rights to vote. In 2001, a mockery of democracy was orchestrated by the corrupt BNP policy maker. in 2001, Major General MSA Bhuiyan, was defeated to corruption, cadre's, illegal money, and dirty politics. His defeat was defeat to the people of Daudkandi.
Even after the defeat, Bhuiyan didn't gave up fight against corruption. He continued his struggle while extending his generous helping hand to the people of Daudkandi. Later he joined Bangladesh Awami League to unite a strong political force against, the corrupt BNA policy maker. His struggle will end, when the people of Daudkandi elects him as their representative to the Bangladesh Parliament in January, 2007.
Major General MSA Bhuiyan (Retd.), a proud father of three, is type of a man who loves his family. He has been happily married for last 37 years to Mahmuda Akhter, a kind, generous, intelligent lady. She has also dedicated her entire life for the people of Daudkandi. The eldest son is Major Mohammad Ali, a brilliant military officer in Bangladesh Army. Second son, Shawkat Ali, an academic scholar, highly educated, international banking consultant. Third son, Zulfikar Ali, is a technology manger in one of the America's largest Bank, Wells Fargo. All of his three sons are happily married.
